Wine Review: This was my favorite wine that I discovered at a recent tasting of the terrific 2009 Beaujolais offerings from Georges Duboeuf. It is ruby colored and opens with a mild blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, yet fruit forward. The flavor profile is a juicy mild spicy black raspberry and strawberry blend. There are also hints of blueberry and oak that adds to the wines complexity. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build up nicely and stick around for quite a while. This wine is quite a solid offering and an absolute steal for $18. It would pair very well with sauteed veal medallions in a brown butter sauce. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: An intense crimson color. A fine expression of this lovely "Capitans" Terroir with highly complex aromas on the nose and palate – hints of flowers (peony), roasting, mocha and vanilla, fruit (blackberry), spices (pepper) and liquorices. Remarkably rich on the palate with powerful tannins and an opulent fleshiness. A wine to lay down for many years. Sommelier's tip: decant an hour before serving.
