Wine Review: Renwood is on a bit of a hot streak with the KensWineGuide.com tasting panel. This wine finished in 3rd place in our blind tasting of Italian Red varietals. This was one of the few American entries of wines made with traditional Italian grapes. This very unique bright ruby colored wine opens with a raspberry bouquet with hints of spearmint, almonds, and toffee. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is round, distinguishly different with it very juicy cherry flavors with notes of spearmint and vanilla as well. The finish is dry and shows moderate tannins that linger. The panel felt this wine would pair perfectly with Gruyere cheese and seafood stew as well. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2005 Barbera is a deep red color. The aromas are rich with cooked berry and new oak. Typical of Barbera is a tangy tartness, smooth finish, and lots of fresh fruit flavors. Scents of vanilla and caramel from the small oak barrel aging complement the fruit aromas and flavors. Approachable now, this is a very nice wine to drink young.
