Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Red Blend from Trapiche opens with a blackberry and black cherry compote bouquet with hints of cedar and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, velvety, and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry and black licorice blend with notes of oak, tobacco, and black coffee. We also detected hints of forest floor and flinty minerality. The finish is dry, and its fine grained moderate dusty tannins show nice length. The Tasting Panel would suggest pairing this Red Blend with steak au poivre or with braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
