Wine Review: This almost clear colored Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand opens with a balsam fir and mild gooseberry bouquet with a hint of lime and boxwood. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, slightly acidic and zippy. The flavor profile is lime with notes of grapefruit and tangerine. There is also a hint of minerality. The finish is dry, refreshing and lingers nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this Sauvignon Blanc with sharp cheddar cheese or oysters. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: An intense grapefruit bouquet bursts from the glass commingling with enticing aromas of passion fruit and gooseberry. The understated but luscious guava and quince round out the aromatic complexity and delight the palate with a reminiscence of sweet tart candy. The mouth-watering acidity, characteristic of New Zealand Sauv Blancs, artfully balances the wine's mouth-feel with a long finish that enhances the fruit and leaves an elegant minerality in its wake. The wine’s complement of flavors and zesty acidity augment an array of foods, so order up some oysters or some succulent fish and wash it down with an offering from half-way around the world!

Cork Lore: A cork tree must be at least 25 years old before its bark can be harvested the first time, but it cannot be used for wine stoppers until the third harvest. Cork trees can be stripped of their bark no more than every 9 to 12 years. In one harvest, enough cork is removed from the average tree to make 4,000 wine stoppers.
