Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Cab from South Africa finished in second place in our big blind Cab tasting of mid-tier priced Cabs. It opens with a black cherry bouquet with significant smoky accents and hints of green pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a smoky oak with notes of black cherry and black currant mixed in. A few tasters also detected a touch of cocoa as well. The finish is dry and its mild tingly tannins linger nicely. The panel suggested serving this gem with beef bourguignonne or veal chop. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This age-worthy Cabernet from the heralded Thelema estate is a benchmark South African bottling with an impressive track record. Sleek and stylish, it abounds with alluring flavors of blackberry and blackcurrant intertwined with complex notes of coffee, cedar, tobacco, and eucalyptus.
