Wine Review: This light yellow colored Chard opens with a mild cantaloupe like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and fresh. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused lemon with notes of peach and gently infused oak in the background. The finish is rather dry and has a pleasing, lingering aftertaste. This Chard is food friendly and would pair very nicely with chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The color is fine yellow gold, with perfect clarity, and aromas of kiwi, star fruit, lemongrass, white pepper, golden delicious apple, grapefruit, leech, toasted nuts and nougat, and the familiar flinty lava dust and mineral notes that are a defining characteristic of our Les Pierres vineyard. Drink in earthy flavors of Meyer lemon, kiwi, raw sugar, and cardamom with an overlay of toasted bread, oak spice and almond paste. The mouthfeel in this vintage is in delicate balance between lively crispness and a round lingering fullness. Our careful approach to oak aging and fermentation adds just the right touch of fresh-baked bread crust. The structure continues to show mineral, and is firm, balanced, elegant and focused. A wonderfully long finish is classic Les Pierres. One of Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature wines, Les Pierres is more austere than our cuvees and will show new faces for many vintages to come.
