Wine Review: It says a lot when a wine wins a blind tasting that included 15 of California's highest profile wines. This years Hillside Select took top honors in this tasting. It is a distinguished wine that was the clear winner in my book. It is slightly opaque and very dark ruby colored. It opens with a very attractive blueberry bouquet with hints of menthol, cassis, and gentle oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, smooth as silk, and beautifully balanced. The flavor profile is a delicious blueberry with pleasantly integrated oak. There was also notes of plum, dark chocolate, and anise detected as well. The finish is dry and its fine tannins are very nicely prolonged. The panel thought this terrific Cab paired perfectly with Stuart's steak. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: A newly opened bottle of 2006 announces itself with lifted, aromatic beauty. The lively, elegant nose is followed in the mouth with a core of juicy, black fruit, chocolate, black plums, cassis, black and red cherry, black tea, and vanilla and spice. Ripe, round, Stags Leap District tannins put together good structure for very long term aging." — ELIAS FERNANDEZ
