Wine Review: This very dark opaque purple colored wine opens with a fragrant ripe wild blueberry bouquet with a hint of blackberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and balanced. The flavor profile is a plum and black currant blend with notes of black raspberry. There is a hint of black pepper and oak mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build up over time and linger. This Petite Sirah is a nice option for a pot roast. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Grown by Jack Florence Jr., a half-mile to the West of the Rockpile Syrah, on a steep hillside loaded with rocky soil is this magnificent block of Petite Sirah. This is a very old clone of Petite Sirah that came from the Seghesio Home Ranch and dates back over 100 years. Vibrant aromas of wild blueberry and boysenberry mingle with notes of Anise and mocha. So dark and inky this is one of those wines you could write with, although we find it’s much more fun to drink.
