Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a huge pomegranate and black cherry bouquet with a hint of menthol. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted ripe blackberry with notes of anise, black pepper, and red currant. The finish is dry and displays light tannins. This big Zin is close to a late harvest style. Some might describe it as a bit over the top. If you like Zin fruit bombs, you will love this wine. I would pair this wine with Kona coffee encrusted steak or pecan pie. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2007 Grandmere Zinfandel is a deep ruby color. The aroma of this wine has scents of vanilla, caramel, holiday spices, blackberry and smoky aromas from the barrel toast. The flavors are deep and rich with layers upon layers of ripe fruit, toasted oak and spice. This wine is always about the best of the best and we are blessed with many Old Vine Zinfandel vineyards from which to choose each component of the final blend. Full flavored, generous and mouth filling are the words that we use to describe this wine.
