Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Merlot opens with a faint barnyard bouquet with hints of red beets and black cherry. On the palate, this wine is a classic easy going Merlot. It’s nicely balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a welcoming cherry and blueberry blend with hints of plum and vanilla oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins sick around, but don’t get in the way. The panel would pair well with a wild boar ragu over pappardelle. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This is an upbeat, delightful, bright ruby colored Merlot that delivers an immediate punch of Rainier cherry to the nose with fresh plum, vanilla, nutmeg, eggnog, orchid and pencil shavings. The softness of the wine is distinctively pleasurable as it caresses the palate in juicy cherry and red raspberry, plus flavors off silky crème fraiche with a touch of mineral and graphite. The 2010 Reininger Merlot is a relaxing spa for the palate!
