Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Riesling from the Finger Lakes opens mild petrol and gentle pear bouquet. On the palate, this wine is quite lively, tangy and shows some zippy acidity. The flavor profile is a tart lime with infused minerality and notes of green apple. The finish is semi-dry and lingers for a while. This wine would be nice for a very hot day and would pair well with skewer of scallops and swordfish. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: 2009 was an exceptional vintage for Riesling in the Finger Lakes and marked the first year of Red Newt single vineyard bottlings of Riesling. Fruit from Sawmill Creek Vineyards most often shows bright tangerine notes in the nose, with crisp well textured palate, and clearly expressed citrus flavors and textures in the finish. The elegant combination of fruit and minerality makes it an exceptional companion for many foods. Think of grilled salmon topped with sauteéd peaches and fennel.
