Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby Zinfandel from Sonoma Valley opens with a fragrant cherry vanilla bouquet with hints of boysenberry and faint oak in the background. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, fruit forward and juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe boysenberry with notes of blackberry. I also detected hints of vanilla, oak, wintergreen, and black cherry. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and mild tannins linger for quite some time. This Zin would pair well slow-cooked brisket with caramelized onions. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Barricia Vineyard Zinfandel has dark, perfumed black cherry, blackberry, white pepper, and baking spice scents with hints of smoke, dry earth, and new leather. Deliciously sweet and dark mid-palate flavors of black fruit and cherry liqueur give way to an intense finish of structured tannins, moderate astringency, and perfect acidity.
