Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a boysenberry jam bouquet with hints of lead pencil. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry with notes of blackberry and faint minerals. I also detected hints of cranberry and oak in the background. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins are pleasantly prolonged. I would pair this Zin with veal medallions sauteed in a brown mushroom sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2009 Big River has aromas of ripe fresh plums, baking spice, hints of fennel, oak-spiced roasted nuts and dark berries. Bright, ripe mouth-filling flavors and a long, soft, fruit and oak-driven finish help make this wine a deeply concentrated, sappy, satisfying Zinfandel of great purity and depth.
