Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from the Russian River opens with a mild Dr. Pepper like bouquet with a hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, and juicy. The flavor profile is a mild tart black plum with hints of minerality, black raspberry and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins are slightly prolonged. The panel suggested pairing this very good Zin with grilled Italian sausage with sautéed onion and red peppers. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2009 Belloni has all the complexities one expects of a field blend co-fermentation that includes Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Alicante Bouschet. Soft, ripe, perfumed nose of dark fruit, boysenberry, and plums with highlights of tobacco, apricot, licorice, and mocha lead to a rich, clean, slightly jammy finish with velvety tannins.
