Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a fragrant boysenberry bouquet with a hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and slightly fruit forward. The flavor profile is a mild oak influenced gentle black raspberry jam with hints of plum and black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins make is food friendly and versatile. This wine is pretty tame and friendly for a Zin. It would pair well with sweet barbecue slathered ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Ripe black raspberry, cherry pie, cracked black pepper, and spice-driven scents with hints of smoke, dry earth, and new leather add complexity to the aromas classically associated with Barricia vineyards. Delicious, sweet dark fruit flavors at the heart of the wine give way to an intense finish with silky tannins and lingering flavors of blackberries and candied cherries. This is a wine with lovely structure and focus.
