Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zin opens with a very mild red cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, juicy, and savory. The flavor profile is a very jammy red raspberry with notes of oak and cranberry. There was a dash of black pepper and anise mixed in on the back palate as well. The finish is quite dry and its substantial tannins are rather lengthy. Our mini-group thought this Zin would pair well with veal marsala. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2007 Barricia is likely the most perfumed wine of the Single Vineyard Designates, eliciting ethereal qualities on the nose. While it is very dark ruby, it will strike lovers of claret-style wines with its Cabernet-like structure and form. Possessing a wow of spice and having characters of cherry pie and fresh berry preserves, this wine will bring out the best flavors of your typical California cuisine—grilled chicken, smoked barbeque, and other fresh and organic foods. It has a long, firm finish that includes hints of cracked pepper. – Joel Peterson
