Wine Review: This midnight purple colored wine from Portugal is very good and a nice value. It opens with a fragrant red currant and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and very juicy. The flavor profile is a mineral and oak influenced red currant and black cherry blend. I also detected hints of strawberry licorice and black olive towards the end. The finish is dry and its tarry tannins linger for a bit.
Winemaker Notes: The 2015 is marginally lighter in style than normal – ideal for the douROSA style which is an easy, approachable wine for immediate drinking. Similar to other years, the 2015 is a very pretty wine – aromatic, light and refreshing. It keeps all the characteristics of red wines from the Douro in a soft and harmonious way. It is an easy drinking wine to be drunk now or within the next five years. This wine is perfect with Italian cuisine.
