Wine Review: This dark red colored blend from Sicily opens with an old leather and moist pipe tobacco bouquet with hints of faint cherry. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, savory and easy to drink. The flavor profile is an old oak and mild cherry blend with notes of oolong tea and dried strawberry. I also detected hints of stony minerality and a touch of black licorice in the after taste. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this Nero d'Avola and Frappato blend with Italian bricole. It did not last long. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Cerasulo is extraordinarily recognizable to the nose with a cornucopia of red and wild fruits, wood strawberries, mulberry and pomegranate. Next to the fruit, it is distinctive for its pleasant spicey almost oriental notes, of sandalwood, coriander, and Sichuan pepper. In the mouth, the wine reflects the olfactory perceptions and happily discovers black pepper mixed with carob and sweet cherries. A lively palate with a very full-bodied rounded finish with notes of mulberry. Pair with a piece of grilled tuna or with your favorite pizza.
