Wine Review: This Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley is one of the best value Zin's that I have covered so far this year. It is slightly opaque and dark ruby colored. It opens with a very jammy boysenberry bouquet with a hint of oak and blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a pleasant mild oak infused black raspberry with a hint of black currant and licorice. The finish is quite dry and its moderate tannins are rather sticky. This wine would pair well with cherry amaretto steak tips. Enjoy -Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep purple-red in color, our Mother Clone Zinfandel is full bodied and intense with classic Dry Creek Valley characteristics: aromas of ripe blackberry and spice, jammy fruit flavors framed with subtle black pepper. This is a concentrated wine that offers a great balance of fruit, spice and tannin combined with a long, lush finish. Enjoy now or cellar for three more years.
