Wine Review: This slightly opaque and ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with red raspberry bouquet with a hint of mild old oak and strawberry licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, juicy and really smooth. The flavor profile is a ripe plum and gentle blackberry blend with a hint of strawberry licorice and touch of oak in the background. The finish is dry and its fine oak tannins are a tad sticky and linger nicely. This Pinot is very food friendly and would pair perfectly with a thyme and rosemary seasoned roasted pork tenderloin or a mild cheddar and vidalia onion burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The cooler 2010 growing season has produced a classic expression of Pinot Noir with beautiful layers of cherry, raspberry, cedar, clove and cinnamon, as well as more floral notes of rose and carnation. Though the tannins are creamy, rich and fine-grained, there is a bright acidity that penetrates the tannins and keeps the wine light and lively. While the wine's energy and high-tone red-fruit notes are a constant from start to finish, deeper notes of chocolate, moist earth and forest floor offer balance and add complexity.
