Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet is for readers who like their oak and Bordeaux styled Cabs. It opens with an oak and saddle leather like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and easy going. The flavor profile is a smoky oak infused black cherry with notes of red currant. I also detected hints cranberry and dash of black pepper mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty oak tannins are slightly prolonged and a tad tingly. This Cab would fool tasters in a blind tasting, if you they were trying to guess where it was from. I would pair it with a Kobe bacon burger with cheddar cheese. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: With beautifully married flavors and tannins, our Oberon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a lovely, seamless texture. Malolactic fermentation in barrel, combined with 18 months oak aging, further concentrated the wine's vibrant red cherry, candied blackberry, licorice and spice flavors, adding a hint of cocoa powder and a lingering toffee note on the finish.
