Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored Syrah opens with an attractive blueberry bouquet with a hint on peppermint. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a soft plum, with integrated oak and gentle blackberry. There was a touch of blackberry detected as well. The finish is very dry and its dusty tannins linger for quite some time. I would pair this Syrah with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 Novy Napa Valley Syrah is our smallest production Napa Valley Syrah in many years with only 248 cases produced. This smaller production level originated with the April frosts, which led to a far smaller crop in many vineyards in California, and the Page-Nord Vineyard is not immune. The goal was to make the most complex wine possible. We then selected only a few of the barrels to make this wine.
