Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Fume opens with a shy and gentle Bartlett pear bouquet with additional scents of green grass. On the palate, this wine is light to medium bodied, balanced, and easy going. The flavor profile is green pear with hints of grapefruit and melon rind. There was also a touch of gentle minerality detected as well. The finish is dry and subtle. The panel suggested pairing this very good value Sauvignon Blanc with chicken piccata or steamed mussels with sun dried tomatoes. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2009 vintage was predominately fermented in stainless steel to retain the citrus and tropical fruit aromatics while the balance was barrel fermented in French and American oak to increase the mouthfeel and develop flavors of white peach and honeydew melon. We also use a clone of Sauvignon Blanc called Sauvignon Musque to add a hint of orange blossom and tangerine and, for the first time ever, we blended in some estate Semillon. The Semillon adds wonderful floral notes and nice texture. This Fume pairs great with lots of food, such as thai grilled chicken and pasta with shrimp, but it also pairs just as well with you relaxing poolside.
