Wine Review: If you are having a lot of friends and family over for the holidays and looking for an affordable sparkler that will please everyone, this Cava offering from Mont Marcal may be just the sparkling wine you are looking for! This light straw colored Brut opens with an inviting tropical fruit bouquet that includes light mango, pineapple, tangerine and hints of coconut. Tiny bubbles continue to deliver long after the initial pour. It is light bodied and fruit forward. The palate is smooth and refreshing with a pleasing burst of bubbles on the initial sip. The fruit bouquet carries through to the palate and includes light grapefruit, lemon and tangerine. I also detected hints of coconut. It displays nice acidity and crispness on its dry and smooth finish. Although not complex, this Brut has an enjoyable palate presence that will be well received at your holiday party. It is also food friendly and would pair well with appetizers such as shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers and sushi. - Joe

Winemaker Notes: Excellent base wine made from a majority Xarel-lo and Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay. Aged a minimum of 18 months on the yeast, disgorged upon order. A vinous yet elegant Cava of consistently top quality.
