Wine Review: This "Windacre" Merlot is top notch and perhaps Merriam's best Merlot that I can remember. It is opaque and dark ruby colored. It opens with a black raspberry bouquet with a hint of old oak and black plum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, nicely structured and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry with integrated mild oak. I also detected hints of blackberry and black pepper. The finish is dry and its medium dusty tannins are sticky and show very nice length. This very good Merlot would pair well with Theresa's Meatloaf. Enjoy – Ken.
Winemaker Notes: Our 10th vintage of Merriam Vineyards Merlot. 2010 brings a deep dark ruby color. As always, this vineyard shows great notes of raspberry, dark dried cherry with notes of vanilla. A thick viscous mouth feel with flavors of cherry, red berry and cassis. Medium acidity, light tannins still young and "will age well." Enjoy!
