Wine Review: This Marsanne from Maisonry is very impressive. If you have not tried this grape, this would be a great place to start. It is pale yellow colored and opens with a pleasant mild pear bouquet with a hint of apple and spice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well balanced, and displays a round mouth feel. The flavor profile is a spiced pear and vanilla oak blend with a hint of toffee. The finish is dry and its flavors are slightly prolonged. This Marsanne will appeal to readers who like classic California styled Chardonnay. I would pair this very tasty Marsanne with chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: An aromatic, Rhone Valley-inspired varietal, the 2009 Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley Marsanne expresses a fragrant nose of butterscotch, ripe apple, and peach with wet rock minerality. Beautifully structured with subtle French oak characteristics, the nose evolves with time in glass. On the palate, rich notes of cantaloupe and melon carry on to the bright, refreshing finish. Drink now or cellar over the next five years.
