Wine Review: This very dark purple colored Syrah opens with a fragrant black currant and boysenberry bouquet with a hint of new leather and smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, initially slightly acidic and rich. This wine really smooth’s out on day two, so I would decant it in the near term. The flavor profile is a tasty smoky oak infused black currant with notes of black pepper and blackberry jam. The finish is dry and its tingly tannins are nicely prolonged. I would pair this wine with braised short ribs or slow cooked tangy pulled pork. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Inky and garnet colored hues make this wine visually stunning. The nose captures aromas of smoked meats, cedar, white pepper and violets. Dense and beautifully structured with tannins that complement the bold dark fruit, vanilla, blueberry, dark raspberry and toasted oak flavors. Long and persistent finish. Drink now through 2019.
