Wine Review: This is a "Classic" Rhone red from beginning to end. A Cotes-du-Rhone that is heavy on the Syrah as most of the fruit was sourced from the Northern Rhone. On the nose, the wine showcases aromas of smoked oak, tobacco leaves, and black pepper. On the palate, these flavors are well translated but are accompanied by bay leaves, grizzled bacon fat, and steeped strawberries and cherries. The acidity and tannins are present in the medium to long finish as the wine is heavy on the Syrah, but not overpowering. Wouldn't hurt to let it breathe or sit in a decanter. Best served with a grilled herb crusted lamb. - Nicolay
