Wine Review: This very tropical South African Chardonnay has a nice lemon yellow color. It opens with a slate, banana, tropical fruit and green apple bouquet. It has a medium body and is smooth and balanced. It displays flavors of peach, pineapple, light grapefruit and a touch of buttery oak. It has a round lingering finish with light citrus. I found it to be quite food friendly and I would pair it with pan-seared scallops. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Bright tropical fruit aromas lead to a crisp, fresh palate with mouth-filling flavors of apple, pear, honey, and pineapple. A whisper of oak adds a creamy butterscotch nuance and wonderful depth. A superb value, this versatile white is a seamless pairing for an array of flavors.

Cork Lore: A cork tree must be at least 25 years old before its bark can be harvested the first time, but it cannot be used for wine stoppers until the third harvest. Cork trees can be stripped of their bark no more than every 9 to 12 years. In one harvest, enough cork is removed from the average tree to make 4,000 wine stoppers.
