Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Merlot from Napa finished in 3rd place in our big blind tasting. It opens with a fragrant blueberry and RC cola bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a rich plum with hints of old oak, black olive, and black cherry. The finish is dry and displays rather sticky dusty tannins that last for quite a while. The panel suggested that this is a great porch sipping wine with a nice cigar around the fire pit. If that is not your scene, pair it with a think cut of prime rib. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: You can't help but notice this wine's intense ruby-red color. Vibrant aromatics of cherry, cassis and linalool take the driver's seat while violet and cedar ride shotgun. The flavors are immediately reminiscent of chocolate dipped cherry, but soon metamorphose into blueberry cobbler with vanilla cream. The wine finishes with notes of molasses and hazelnut. This is an elegant wine, but don't let the finesse fool you; it has the structure to support 8-10 years in the cellar.
