Wine Review: This opaque and very dark red colored Zinfandel from Hartford is a bit over the top. It opens with a fragrant blackberry bouquet with hints of black pepper and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a black pepper infused extracted blackberry with notes of plum, dark chocolate, and old oak. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins linger for a little while. The panel suggested decanting this wine for at least an hour as this wine comes together and becomes more velvety with air. The panel suggested serving it with a Five Guys mushroom and bacon burger. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Consistently distinctive cracked white pepper nuances differentiate the Highwire single-vineyard Zinfandel from our other Zinfandel bottlings. Concentrated blackberry and boysenberry fruit aromas and flavors are a signature of this vineyard each year and complement cracked pepper and allspice nuances that linger. A multi-layered finish that seems to go on forever almost encourages a ‘cult following’ for this sought aer single vineyard old-vine Russian River Valley Zinfandel.
