Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored Merlot from Italy performed very well in our big blind tasting. It opens with a fragrant ripe blackberry bouquet with a hint of cinnamon and smoke. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very nicely balanced, and has a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a tasty mild blackberry with lots of spice and some nicely integrated oak. The finish is dry and its moderate chalky tannins are well managed. The panel suggested pairing this Merlot with veal parmigianna. Enjoy -KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Montiano is deep ruby red in color and exhibits a wide range of aromas, from vanilla to red berries and fruit along with layers of jam and sweet spice. It is powerful and full bodied, yet well rounded on the palate with an elegant and lingering finish. One of the most sought after wines from central Italy.
