Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of bay leaf and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle blackberry with nicely integrated old oak. We also detected a hint of plum and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins linger for quite a while. The panel suggested that this very food friendly Zin would be perfect with homemade meatloaf. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 vintage is dark ruby colored, with aromas of perfectly ripe berries, sweet oak, and spice. On the lush and pleasing palate, flavors of raspberries and plum dominate, while black pepper, smoked bacon, and candied cherries round out the experience. This wine shows layers of gorgeous fruit with a deep, underlying complexity that is so characteristic of this vineyard. This wine is extremely food friendly. Try it with a peppered steak, osso buco, rich tomato dishes, pasta, or a selection of cheeses.
