Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Syrah from Dutton Estate opens with a licorice and old oak bouquet with hints of black cherry, currant, and tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, silky and delicate. The flavor profile is stone dust and mild black plum blend with notes of black cherry-cola. We also detected hints of graphite and oak. The finish is dry and its mild tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this food friendly Syrah with grilled pork chops with cherry sauce or with a pepper encrusted venison. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The nose begins with dark, rich notes of ripe cherries and chocolate as well as some varietal typicity of leather and tobacco. There's a slight touch of mint as a result of the American oak. A bold, full-bodied wine, this Syrah is rich and smooth through to the finish with its powdery tannic structure. Dark, ripe fruit flavors, mostly cherry, are echoed on the palate that mingle with tobacco, fennel, and other spice notes. This would hold up to barbecue meats, braised oxtail, and especially a gourmet fatty burger!
