Wine Review: This clear medium ruby colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Estate opens with a black raspberry and black tea bouquet with hints of damp forest floor, blackberry, and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bold, and zesty. The flavor profile is marionberry and black tea blend with notes of stony minerality, black pepper, and dried strawberry. We also detected hints of cedar and milk chocolate. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. The Tasting Panel would suggest decanting this young Pinot in the near term to bring out its best. With food, we would suggest pairing it with a rack of lamb or Hungarian goulash. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The wine presents bold aromas of raspberry, rhubarb and cherries. This is notable on the palate as well as some gentle notes of allspice and leather. The fruit is followed by cocoa which is consistent with previous vintages of our flagship Pinot Noir. The medium plus acidity and soft tannins bring balance to this enjoyable wine, making it pair well a range of foods from a turkey club sandwich to more elegant choices like pistachio crusted lamb chops or duck breast in a rich fruit sauce.
