Wine Review: This pale yellow colored Riesling was my favorite from a flight of Spatlese that I recently reviewed. It opens with a spiced pear bouquet with a hint of honey. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well balanced, and shows harmonious acidity. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild ripe green apple with hints of Anjou pear with a touch of minerality. The finish is mildly sweet and rather pleasant. This wine would perfectly complement a turkey dinner. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine, from a truly "grand cru" vineyard, showcases the vineyard's typically juicy and precocious fruit, with rich mouth feel, zippy acidity and a lingering finish. "Spatlese" ("late picked") means that the grapes get a week or two of extra hang time for higher ripeness and deeper flavors than a Kabinett. This is a wonderful wine for richer foods. Its low alcohol makes it especially good with spicy Asian/fusion cuisine.
