Wine Review: The 2015 DMZ Cabernet Rose has the grip one would expect to find from a Cabernet Sauvignon Rose. Not quite the Rose for red wine drinkers, but it offers a lot more body and fruit than your typical Provencal Rose. Opening with notes of blood oranges, Rainer cherries, and raspberries, this wine leads you to believe it will pack a punch, and it does. On the palate, the wine is as interesting as the nose with the blood oranges coming through alongside candied pink grapefruit and tart strawberries. The finish has the slightest hint of eucalyptus, but that could just be the acidity playing trick with your senses. With the slightest tannic grip, this is a Rose that could be paired with seared red meats, especially wild game. The biggest downside is that this Rose is not a stand-alone drinker, it needs food. - Nicolay
Winemaker Notes: DMZ is DeMorgenzon's value label, where the objective is to produce classic, elegant, well-balanced wines which over-deliver in terms of quality for price. This crowd-pleasing rose displays alluring aromas and juicy flavors of pomegranate, watermelon and strawberries, accented with delicate floral and spice hints.
