Wine Review: This light straw-colored Chardonnay from Davis Estates opens with a very inviting baked pear tart and peach bouquet with hints of pineapple, spice, and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and elegant. The flavor profile is a light toasted coconut and baked Bosc pear blend with notes of caramel and green apple. Hint of almond, oak, and pineapple. We also detected some hints of minerality in the mix. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this food friendly Chard with pan-roasted trout in a butter sauce, a seafood casserole with a butter drizzle or a Maryland lump crab cake with beurre blanc. Winemaker Notes: Our 2021 Chardonnay is a favorite among the team, with its brilliant gold color and subtle tropical notes on the nose upon first swirl. Then, aromas of yellow apple and bright lemon zest are followed by just a hint of crème brûlée. The bright richness of this Chardonnay carries onto the palate with flavors of lemon meringue pie and a touch of baking spice. It has beautiful acidity and a supple mouthfeel that make it a pleasure to experience!
