Wine Review: This wine was one of my favorite wines on day 2 of this year's Boston Wine Expo and it is a steal at $20. Now what, I'm not sure about is where the name of this wine came from, but there is nothing dead about it. I might have called it "The Balls!," but then they might not be able to sell it in Alabama. Anyway this wine is a kick ass Zin. It is very dark ruby colored and opens with a fragrant blueberry bouquet with a hint of cherry vanilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, extremely well balanced, smooth, and elegant. The flavor profile is a delicious ripe boysenberry with a touch of ripe blackberry and black pepper mixed in. The finish is dry and its tingly tannins are nicely prolonged. This Zin would pair very well with a filet at your favorite steakhouse. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Ripe fruit aromas complimented by well-defined dark fruit flavors. Peppery spices and well-balanced oak give this wine flesh on its bones and great depth. 100% Zinfandel and 100% from the Westside of Paso Robles. Fruit from Baily, Wills Hills, Louis and Gravity Hills Vineyards.
