Wine Review: This ruby colored Zin from the 2005 vintage is showing very nicely right now. It opens with a fragrant boysenberry bouquet with a hint of dried cranberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and very fruity. The flavor profile is a very concentrated and jammy black raspberry with notes of oak, rhubarb, and black pepper. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins show nice length while its fruit continues to shine on. Pair this Zin with a stack of messy barbecue braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine offers a nose of black cherry, raspberry and notes of spice. The palette shows black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, a hint of mint and spice, with a good acid balance, and ending in a long finish. The dry farmed and head trained Zinfandel grapes were blended with 18% estate-grown Petite Sirah.
