Wine Review: This opaque and dark purple colored Merlot was the winner of our big blind tasting of mid-tier Merlots. It opens with an attractive black cherry and blueberry bouquet with a touch of oak and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and silky. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of black cherry. The panel also detected hints of cinnamon and coffee which added to its complexity. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are sticky and nicely prolonged. The panel suggested pairing this tasty Merlot with a New York strip steak or blackened tuna. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Canoe Ridge Estate Merlot is an elegant Merlot with bright red cherry fruit character with savory spice notes and a soft finish. This is an easy-to-drink wine with plenty of complexity. Its dusty tannins make it a perfect match with Italian food.
