Wine Review: This Cabernet from Chappellet is impressive. It opens with a mild black currant bouquet with a hint of black cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, rather smooth and elegant. The flavor profile is a very distinctive ripe black cherry and gentle black currant with hints of black licorice. The finish is dry and its well managed fine tannins drift away nicely. This wine is very food friendly and would pair well with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The depth and complexity that mark the spectacular 2009 growing season are fully on display in this wine, with head-turning aromatics of black currant, cherry, plum and violet leaping out of the glass before revealing subtler notes of cinnamon, clove, espresso, cocoa and anise. On the palate, the tannins are large, yet velvety, supporting voluptuous layers of blackberry, bing cherry, cassis and baking spices. Oak-inspired notes of caramelized brown sugar and molasses add additional nuance, while leading to a plush, lingering finish.
