Wine Review: This opaque dark ruby colored wine from Bierzo opens with a very attractive cherry vanilla like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile of this Mencia is a very dusty black raspberry with notes of black currant. The finish is quite dry and its noticeable tannins are quite lengthy. If you are looking for trying an upper tier Mencia, this one will serve you well. Pair it with hearty meal like beef stew. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: In excellent vintages a selection from the steepest slopes and oldest vines is destined to the production of Tebaida, aged a minimum of 16 months in French oak. The 2006 is red purple colour with bright look, great layer and plentiful glycerine tears, due to its concentration. Intense aromas of fine preserves, raspberry and berries. Highly persistent finish, sweet, with an excellent union of wine and wood given the weight of the fruit.
