Wine Review: This small production Petite Sirah from Carlisle recently won our blind tasting of Petite Sirah’s. It is a very dark purple colored and slightly opaque. It opens with a musty oak and blackberry like bouquet with a hint of petrol. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very well balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty black raspberry and blueberry blend. There were notes of black pepper that were nicely integrated throughout. The finish is extremely dry and its huge tannins show excellent length. This is a complex Petite Sirah. It shows a refined palate presence and then closes in a big way. I would decant it for an hour and serve it with a cowboy ribeye. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: Opaque black-purple. Even the bubbles are black! On the nose, deep, dark aromas of loamy earth and blueberry pie. The wine enters full and rich, coating the palate with its black and blue fruit flavors. A-B-C-D-licious! For a pet, surprisingly round and approachable. But don’t be fooled, there is plenty of structure and tannin to ensure a long life. Drink 2009 through 2020. (MRO – 10/30/08)
