Wine Review: This midnight black colored Cabernet based wine from Italy opens with an attractive new leather and black cherry bouquet with a hint of cocoa. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, smooth and savory. The flavor profile is a very tasty black currant and cedar blend with notes of cola, black tea and nicely integrated minerality. The finish is dry and its dusty monster tannins show great length. This hedonistic gem was a top finisher in our Big Blind Tasting. It should be decanted and served with a well-marbled ribeye. Winemaker Notes: Solengo is a modern, well-balanced and full-bodied wine. It is deep, dark purple in color with a bouquet of ripe fruit, such as blackcurrants and blackberries, with a hint of toasted oak. It is smooth on the palate, with a great concentration of excellent fruit, nicely balanced with delicate, soft tannins. The structure and complexity in the mouth are outstanding, tempered by excellent tannic extracts.
