Wine Review: This bright ruby colored Pinot from the prominent Pisoni Vineyard opens with an attractive spicy raspberry like bouquet. There were notes of dried cranberry detected as well. On the palate, this wine is light to medium bodied, balanced, and very juicy. The flavor profile is a spicy black raspberry with hints of dark chocolate and black currant mixed in. The finish is dry and its mild tannins linger slightly. This wine would pair well with salmon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is one the most beautifully balanced expressions of Pisoni Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir that we have ever bottled. Reflecting the cooler 2006 growing season, this wine begins with red apple and raspberry aromatics that soon reveal notes of smoky clove and loganberry. On the palate, classic Pisoni layers of raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry pie are underpinned by fine-grained tannins and a refreshing acidity that give the flavors an elegant lift.
