Wine Review: This Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand finished in 2nd place in our recent blind tasting. This very pale yellow colored wine opens with a classic gooseberry bouquet with hints of lemon. On the palate, this light bodied wine is balanced and crisp with green apple flavors. There were notes of grapefruit and minerality also detected on the back palate. The finish is dry and nicely refreshing. This is what you expect from a Very Good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It would pair well with food. We suggest grilled scallops or grilled chicken with lemon and thyme. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: While yields were lower than expected, fruit quality was excellent and flavors were intense. Vibrant and fresh, the 2007 Catalina Sounds is a super classy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. "My goal is to make a wine that has not just intensity, but complexity and interest on the palate. I’m really looking for a wine that will evolve in the glass and open up as it is consumed, revealing a variety of flavours and textures." - Ant Moore
