Wine Review: This is the second vintage in a row that we have recommended the “Belloni” Zin from Ravenswood. This bright ruby colored Zin opens with a spicy black raspberry like bouquet with a hint of nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, with dusty black currant flavors. The finish is dry and its noticeable tannins linger for quite some time. This wine is for readers that prefer subdued fruit styles like found in wines from Rioja. We would pair this Zin with beef bourguignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2006 Belloni is characterized by particularly big ripe flavor, a characteristic achieved by the cofermentation of Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouchet grapes as well as the small coop of exceptional weather for the Russian River in this vintage. Seemingly sweet, this wine is actually very round and full with lots of boysenberry, raspberry, and blueberry hints to it. The nice acidity gives the wine a good balance and structure. Enjoy its long, elegant finish which fills the palate beautifully. – Joel Peterson
