Wine Review: This Syrah from South Africa was very well received by our tasting panel. It finished in third place with a score of 90.86. They felt this offering would appeal to readers who like Syrah’s from the Rhone Valley. This bright ruby colored wine opens with a black current like bouquet with hints of tobacco and smoke. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is smooth, nicely balanced, with very interesting smoky black current flavors with notes of blueberry and oak. The finish is quite dry and a bit subtle. The panel felt this wine was young and would really develop into something special with some cellar time. In the meantime they felt you could also enjoy it now with beef stew. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This stunning Syrah boasts beautiful aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, and pepper that follow through on the lengthy palate. Well-integrated tannins and seductive hints of mocha, earth, and spice add to the complexity of this eponymous bottling from Thelema winemaker Rudi Schultz.
