Wine Review: The Earthquake line-up from Michael and David Phillips seems to perform quite well with our tasting panel. This 2004 vintage finished in second place in our recent blind tasting on mid-priced Cabs. This very dark ruby offering opens with a cherry vanilla like bouquet with hints of black olives. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is smooth, soft, nicely balanced, with slightly complex and tart cherry like flavors that are influenced by black currant, vanilla and oak. The finish is dry with moderate tannins that linger for quite a while. The panel felt this wine would appeal to folks that like the modern styled Barberas and Nebbiolos from the Piedmont region of Italy. The panel would pair this wine with beef brisket or beef Wellington. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Big, juicy, rich, fruity, and chock full of decadent black fruits. Chewy tobacco, sweet vanilla, spice aromas and flavors.
